FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What is red light therapy? Red light therapy is a simple, non-invasive treatment that shines red and near infrared light on a person’s skin and reaches the cells. CURED Light Therapy uses high-quality LEDs that shine red and near infrared light onto your body. This is like certain wavelengths of natural sunlight, which your body needs, but CURED Light Therapy provides this without the heat or UV rays that sunlight does.

Red light therapy treatments can improve cellular function and bring better balance and energy efficiency throughout the body. CURED Light Therapy devices provide high quality red light therapy, which has a positive effect on sleep, inflammation, the skin and supports better recovery.

Light therapy for the skin was originally discovered by NASA. NASA investigated the use of LED therapy in tissue healing and found the positive results here.

Red light therapy works by improving cellular function and promoting greater efficiency and balance in the cellular energy production process.

Humans have trillions of cells, and all of them need that energy to do their jobs and keep our bodies in balance. We convert this energy from food, water and oxygen, most efficiently in a vital process called cellular respiration. The product of cellular respiration is adenosine triphosphate (ATP) energy that our bodies use every second. The more efficiently we can create ATP, the better we feel and function.

Red and NIR light improve the efficiency of the cellular respiration process and help your body make and use ATP energy more effectively. Light does this by affecting the mitochondria, the powerhouses of the cell. Red light therapy can increase the number of mitochondria [Study] and also enhance their function in the cell. [Study]

In short, red light therapy treatments can stimulate the electrons involved in the mitochondria during cellular respiration, and help clear nitric oxide (NO), which is a harmful roadblock to ATP production. [StudyEssentially, NO fires up the cellular system of ATP production, and red and NIR light help prevent and reverse this problem. The photons in red and NIR light generate electrons, which help break nitric oxide bonds so hydrogen ions can move through the process more effectively, resulting in greater levels of ATP energy that nourish your cells and body. [Study]

That is a general summary of a very complicated microscopic process. For a more detailed look at how light affects cellular respiration, read it here.

Does Red Light Therapy Really Work? Yes, light therapy has been extensively studied and tested. Learn about the science behind light therapy and how a light therapy treatment affects your body on a cellular level here. There are more than 5000 studies that demonstrate the effect of Red Light Therapy.

Red Light Therapy is also FDA approved. It is an effective therapy that is already being used in various medical centers around the world. Our panels have the following certificates: FDA, RoHS, CE, EMC and FCC.

The closer you are, the more intense your session will be, but the treated surface will also be smaller. If you take a little more distance, the treated surface will be larger and you will be able to set your timer a little longer.

15 cm – 90 cm distance to the light
for about 5 – 20 minutes

Longer than 20 minutes per body part, per session has no additional beneficial effect, so is unnecessary, but not harmful.

Everyone reacts differently depending on the age and condition of the body. There are people who notice improvement after the 1st use, while others take a few weeks. The fastest results are noticeable in muscle stiffness/recovery, sports recovery, energy level and sleep quality. n general, the best results are obtained over a period of 2-12 weeks. There are benefits that will take a little longer to see results (hair growth, disorders, inflammation,…)

You can use Red Light Therapy every day for about 5 to 20 minutes.
In addition, you can use it between 2 to 14 times a week (or more).

What is the difference between red & near infrared light? Red light is visible to the eye. We use a wavelength of 660nm for all our devices. It is a shorter wavelength, widely used in research and clinical studies. This wavelength extends to the surface of the skin and about 1-2 mm below it. This light mainly offers benefits for the skin (collagen production), sleep, hair growth and mood.

Near InfraRed(NIR) light is nearly invisible to the naked eye and penetrates deeper into the skin’s surface, 2 to 4 cm. This light offers benefits on muscles, joints, hormones, etc…

CURED Light Therapy devices are always balanced with half of our lamps at 660nm and the other half at 850nm. In this way you enjoy optimal results of Red Light Therapy. You can also always use the 2 functions separately for a targeted treatment.

CURED Light Therapy devices are designed with 50% red LEDs and 50% near infrared LEDs. The lights that APPEAR to be off provide Near Infrared (NIR) light at 850nm. This light spectrum is invisible to the human eye, so you can’t see the light from it. If you only use NIR, it seems that the device does not emit any light. On the touch-screen control panel you can see which of the lamps are on by the indicator light at “red” and “infrared”.

CURED Light Therapy devices have lenses with a 60° angle, over the LEDs. This is important to ensure therapeutic powerdensity at greater distances.

In each high quality LED panel, a top-lens is placed over the LED to collect the light and spread it evenly.
These secondary refractive lenses come at different angles (usually 30°, 60° or 90°) all of which affect the final intensity and magnitude of the emitted light. The smaller the lens angle, the more light is concentrated in one spot, but this narrows the area of coverage because the light is focused more centrally.
30° angle lenses. Weaker LED panels go for a 30° angled lens to boost their weaker power, but at the same time sacrifice the coverage area.

90° angle lenses will then radiate an angle that is too large. Wide beam angles cause the power density to decrease very quickly over a distance.

60° angle lenses provide maximum coverage while also providing superior output. That’s why the CURED Light Therapy devices feature lenses with a beam angle of 60° to ensure therapeutic power density at any distance.

The main difference between red light therapy and infrared saunas is that red light therapy uses light, infrared saunas apply heat to the body. Both technologies provide therapeutic benefits, but they do so in completely different ways and on different wavelengths of light. Infrared saunas aim to relax and warm while red light therapy does not involve heat and the aim here is to provide the cells with energy. Red light therapy provides only the most effective wavelengths, which have proven beneficial effects on the body. This explains the superior function and effectiveness of LED red light therapy as a therapy.

CURED Light Therapy, stands for #biohacking and natural treatments We certainly recommend that you always seek out nature and natural light.
BUT, there are two problems with using the sun as a source of red light and these are:

  1. Getting the right wavelength of light at exactly the right intensity in nature is often very difficult or impossible.
  2. The other wavelengths of light you are exposed to at the same time. Such as UV light, which can damage collagen and cause wrinkles.

Red light therapy is a safe and non-invasive supplement to natural light of certain wavelengths, which have a proven healing effect on our body. A short and intense treatment with Red Light Therapy is enough to experience the benefits.

If the light blocks, it will affect the effectiveness of the red light device. Red light therapy can still benefit from light clothing or makeup, but it is better to do this on bare and clean skin, this way the light can be absorbed more easily.

Unlike many other devices, the CURED Light Therapy devices are designed so that they are all at 15cm: 0.0 µT EMF.

The CURED Light Therapy panels are designed so that you can easily upgrade your panel and connect it together, like a puzzle piece. So you can easily form your dream panel and connect up to 6 panels for optimal lighting! So you can plan this according to your budget or need.

No, they are very different therapies.

Red light therapy is low-level light therapy, which uses red light, which has less energy than laser therapy.

Laser therapy stands for: light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Lasers are light mechanisms that use ‘amplified’ light waves, which are concentrated in a single coherent ‘laser beam’ of the same frequency. Lasers use directional heat and photonic intensity, which work when electrons gain more energy, after absorbing energy from an electric current. This is not the case with Red Light Therapy.

Masks, retractable lights, and wired LEDs that provide red light are WAY too low power to do what they advertise. Often they promote the CONCEPT of red light therapy but never get to the intensity necessary to get some of the proven results shown in the many studies.

The LEDs of such masks can be checked with special measuring equipment. Often this is never shown on the site of the product in question because they do not want to come out with it. So you can put on such masks all day and still not get the benefits that a powerful panel like CURED Light Therapy can offer in a minute. accordion item: content Powerful light intensity (irradiance) is needed to experience the many benefits of RLT. With CURED this light intensity (irradiance) is >120 mw/cm2

No. Red light therapy does not contain ultraviolet (UV) light, which is associated with tanning. Red light therapy has NOTHING TO DO with tanning beds. Tanning beds use UV rays, while red light therapy uses red & near infrared light.

No. There are no UV rays in Red Light Therapy.

Skin cancer can be caused by exposure to UV wavelengths. Unlike Red Light Therapy, which carries many healing benefits for the skin. Red light therapy does not contain harmful UV radiation.

Studies show that red light therapy does not harm the eyes. At CURED we always say: just as you should not look directly into the sun, you should not do this with the CURED Light Therapy devices. Just close your eyes. For people who are sensitive to light, the CURED Light Therapy devices are always supplied with eye protection that you can use.
